Methods

In the Neotropical Montology Collaboratory, we apply a multi-method approach to grapple with landscape transformation.  The investigation of critical biogeography themes are often afforded with landscape ecology and political ecology methods, working in the interconnections of physical and human geography.  Thus, the montological approach to understand Tropandean landscapes are often inclusive of:

  • Envelope Charaterization / Biodiversity Inventory / Ecological Modelling / GIS Analysis / Netnography
  • Critical Discourse Analysis / Ethnoecological valuation / Bibliometrics and Historicity / Onomastics
  • Landscape Archaeology / Landscape Forensics / Landscape Risk Assessment / SWOTE Analysis
  • Environmental Econometrics / Panoptic Trade-offs / Parsimony Analysis / Cost-Benefit Analysis
  • Haptic, experiential manipulation and on-site experimentation
