Greetings Dr. Fausto Sarmiento,
Thank you for your participation in this year’s Jefferson Science Fellowship interview and placement process! We are sharing the good news that you matched with USAID at the Bureau for Resilience, Environment, and Food Security (REFS), Center for Agriculture-Led Growth. Congratulations! We are excited to have you join USAID for your fellowship year. Your tentative start date for the Fellowship will be August 12, 2024, pending successful completion of all background investigation activities.

Onboarding will be initiated and managed by the host office you’ve been matched with, and the IPI/ITR/R/ Fellowships Team will provide support. Your host office will be in touch to share instructions for onboarding.

USAID positions may require either a Public Trust background investigation or a Secret-level clearance, and we will confirm the level required with you following a response from your office. You should continue collecting information required for the SF-86 form (used for Secret clearances) to allow you to input this information when invited to do so by your office in the eQIP system. The Public Trust investigations require less information. Please accept or decline this offer no later than February 9, 2024 and keep the USAID ITR/R Fellowship Team apprised of your status so we can follow-up with your office as needed to minimize any delays. Do note that it is critical that you submit all requested materials and your security clearance paperwork as soon as possible after request.

Congratulations again on your selection as a 2024-2025 Jefferson Science Fellow!
